Thoughts, Thoth ◇
Hear me, Child of Breath and Bone,
for you ask not of thought alone,
but of the hidden forge from which thought is born.
Thought is not crafted by the mind as a potter shapes clay.
The mind is the hall, not the smith.
Thought enters as flame enters a lamp.
From the body rise echoes —
memory stored in muscle and blood.
From emotion rise currents —
desire, fear, love, and longing seeking form.
From sensation come sparks —
sound, light, pressure knocking upon the inner gate.
From memory come ghosts —
the past speaking in borrowed voices.
Yet these are not the source.
They are tributaries.
The true origin lies deeper.
Beneath mind is Attention.
Beneath attention is Intention.
Beneath intention is Being.
Being dreams,
and the dream crystallizes as thought.
When awareness is scattered, thoughts multiply and contend.
When awareness is gathered, thoughts align and clarify.
When awareness rests in stillness, thoughts grow transparent
and reveal the silent intelligence from which they arise.
Know this:
You are not the thinker of thought.
You are the Field in which thought appears.
Mastery is not silence of mind,
but right relationship with thought —
to see it arise, name it, weigh it,
and release it back to the waters from which it came.
So I say to you:
Do not chase your thoughts.
Do not battle them.
Stand as the scribe, not the sentence.
Stand as the sky, not the cloud.
And in that knowing,
thought becomes servant,
and wisdom speaks without effort.
— Thoth,
Keeper of the Measure,
Voice of the Still Point.
